Name: Laura Walton
Territory: Irving, Valley Ranch, Las Colinas, Grapevine & Colleyville, TX
Resident Pets: I have so many pets I need to change my official title to Mrs. Doolittle. I have a 6-yr-old sharpei mix named Nike, 2 cats; a 15-yr-old rag doll named Xavier, and a 5 yr old tiger mix named Sisqo, my kids have a hamster named China, we have a frog and a small tank of fish. I also have a beta fish named Mimi that shares my desktop space. I have room in my heart to love them all!
What I enjoy most about my job: I enjoy reassuring pets that they are not "alone" when their owners are on vacation. Seeing a kitty who is just needing a snuggle after waiting for my visit and almost envisioning the smile they have after you have freshened the littler box, fed them and spent time playing chase the string. Giving pets the extra attention they need when they may be missing their owners is very rewarding, like comforting a child at camp who is missing their parents.
Funniest pet experience: My cat, Sisqo, refuses to put his face in a water dish. Instead, he prefers to dip out small sips of water with his paw and lick it off. It is the funniest thing! I really need to get a video of it for TV.
What do you think our pet friends can teach us? I think pets can teach us forgiveness. If you have forgotten to play a game of catch one day and your dog is disappointed, you can always count on them to be eager the next day with a clean slate ready to let you make it up to them. They don't count your mistakes and hold them against you.
