Resident Pet
Our house is ruled by a 12-year-old Dachshund named Copper. He came to live with us as a 7-week-old puppy and life has never been the same. In 2000 we entered Copper in the National Wiener Dog Championship race in Houston, competing against a field of 65 other dogs. He came in 2nd. The next year he won and continued to win races all over Texas until he retired in 2008. He was named the Fastest Wiener Dog in Texas at the Buda, TX races 6 times, beating well over 600 dogs throughout his career. He’s been featured in many newspaper articles, on local news stations and on CBS Sunday Morning. Copper now lives the good life of a retired champion, with servants to wait on him, a king-sized bed to sleep in, and a leather couch to lounge upon.
What I Enjoy Most About My Job
I love animals! I especially enjoy pet sitting because the animals are always so happy to see me.
Funniest Pet Experience
Once while pet sitting for a family who lived in the country, unbeknownst to me a centipede crawled up my pants leg while I was walking the dogs. When I discovered the unwanted hitchhiker, I shrieked and danced and shook until he dropped onto the pavement and scurried away. The dogs looked at me like I was crazy!

Over the years I have learned about unconditional love from the many pets I’ve owned. No matter my mood, my attitude or my words, my pet offers his love with a wag of his tail, a smooch or a cuddle. As a mother, I’ve watched my children learn compassion for others and responsibility by owning and caring for pets.
