My Pets
My youngest is named Shaum Torte, Torty for short. This is a Betty Crocker dessert very much enjoyed by my family. Torty is a desert tortoise, thus her dessert name seems to be very appropriate. She hangs out in the backyard haveing outgrown her aquarium. Due to the fact that tortoises live forever, I will make sure to put her in my will. Selkie is my middle child. He is a great lap dog and besides bursts of energy, he pretty much lays around all day on the couch until someone walks bye outside worthy of being barked at. Selkie is my handsome little boy. Nelly is the oldest. I am not going to lie, she is a bit of a snob and a priss. But go figure, she is a cat. However, Nelly is my little princess. She is my heater in the winter and my antisocial baby in the summer. These are my beautiful children.
What I enjoy most about pet sitting
Each pet is like a person. They are different. Pet sitting is a chance to have fun with a variety of animals and yet build relationships with them. I get to spend time loving and being loved by these furry friends, who wouldn’t want to do that?
Funniest pet experience
You know that saying, “my dog ate my homework.” Whoever developed that saying did not have a cat. Nelly is my pride and joy, don’t get me wrong. Most of the time she hangs out in the garage/Sana and ignores humanity, but every once and awhile she gets a little urge saying “I need attention.” If I am sitting at the table with my work spread out, she will come and plop down on the paper right in front of me. If this fails to catch my attention because I have just pushed her away, she will passive aggressively tear up some of my papers on the table. She may seem oblivious, but she knows which papers are actually important and always chooses them out of the many available. This is my little punk : )
What do you think our pet friends can teach us?
I think many people grow due to having a pet. Personally, my pets have taught me unconditional love. No matter what has happened during my day, they sense my happiness or sadness and share it with me. Pets can teach us that companionship without judgment is a strong bond, hard to be broken.
